Audience: The event coordinators that work specifically on site for Special Events Party Solutions (SEPS). The demographics vary in age (average age is 35), years of experience in the company and levels of training.
Business Problem: SEPS has a large showroom where on-site special event coordinators, independent wedding planners and the general public can come and view the items available to rent. The showroom is not cohesively cleaned and organized throughout the day for receiving clients because there has been no consistent training around these protocols. The event coordinators have all been hired at different times and likely by different managers, causing their training for the maintenance of the showroom to be lacking in one consistent protocol. The Event Coordinators need to know where the items belong, how to correctly put them away, and how to maintain the organization and cleanliness after EVERY client.
Solution: In order for the showroom and its display items to be ready for vendors and clients to look at and get inspiration, the items must be put away in the proper space, clean and organized 100% of the time. A training module was created to address the following terminal Learning Objectives:
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the linen corner.
Maintain the organization of the display pieces.
Utilize down time between clients to dust the displays.
Highlights: Balanced cognitive load, realistic scenarios, interactive slides, chunking of learning objectives, knowledge checks and a graded quiz.
Process: I used the ADDIE model to:
analyze the learning targets, audience, and required resources
design a learning solution that meets the criteria of the needs and aligns the curriculum to meet these goals
develop and revise drafts for validation, seeking input of stakeholders
implement the learning solutions and track the engagement of the users and their interactions with the resources
evaluate the quality and success of the learning using the Kirkpatrick Level 2 and Level 3 evaluation model:
Level 2 Assessment:
Ungraded Scenario and multiple choice Knowledge Checks
Two chances to answer correctly before learner is progressed to review activity before continuing on through the rest of the content slides
Graded Quiz
5 questions, Scenario based, At least one question for each TLO, 80% needed to pass, Unlimited tries to pass, Review option for each question available at the end of the quiz for pass or fail
Level 3 Assessment:
Observe how the event planners clean up after clients once they have passed the module
Observe the cleanliness of the showroom before and after clients
Note any improvements or areas that need to be reviewed again for more success

Audience: Every current stylist at the salon and any new stylists in the future. These stylists vary in age and experience and education. The average age is 30 and the education experience is a 2 year trade school for cosmetology. The average work experience is 2-15 years. All of the stylists are licensed and know the state expectations for cleaning and disinfecting their implements.
Business Problem: Not every stylist uses the same brands, procedure and/or routine to clean their styling implements. Bekah is concerned that because of this inconsistency there is a greater chance for the spread of bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites being passed on from client to client. Bekah is committed to setting up a disinfecting station for all stylists to use and wants to make sure they are all familiar with her specific cleaning expectations going forward.
Solution: All stylists, including new future hires, will be consistent with the protocol for the disinfecting station. This will ensure that bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites will not be passed on from client to client and Bekah can assure her clients of quality control. The terminal learning objectives determined are:
Locate the necessary disinfecting supplies.
Implement the protocol to clean and disinfect plastic and non-porous implements correctly.
Implement the protocol to clean and disinfect clippers and blades correctly
Implement the protocol to clean up the disinfecting station after each use.
Highlights: Balanced cognitive load, interactive slides, chunking of learning objectives, knowledge checks and a graded quiz.
Process: I used the ADDIE model to:
analyze the learning targets, audience, and required resources
design a learning solution that meets the criteria of the needs and aligns the curriculum to meet these goals
develop and revise drafts for validation, seeking input of stakeholders
implement the learning solutions and track the engagement of the users and their interactions with the resources using Kirkpatrick's Levels 2 and 3:
Kirkpatrick's Level 2 Assessment:
Ungraded Knowledge Checks
Scenario based
One KC after the second LO
multiple choice
One KC after third LO
Drag and drop
Graded Quiz
5 questions
Scenario based
At least one question for each TLO
80% needed to pass
Unlimited tries to pass
Feedback for each question after each submission
Kirkpatrick's Level 3 Assessment:
Observe how the disinfecting station is being maintained by the stylists
Sporadically over the course of next month
If not at 100% at the end of a month, review with stylists who need more support in executing the protocols correctly
Observe the use of “clean” and “used” tubs
Observe the consistency of using the disinfecting station
Note any improvements or areas that need to be reviewed again for more success

Audience: the team managers and directors of the marketing firm. These leaders will be able to begin the initiatives among their own teams. A future training will be held for all team members once all of the managers and directors have been trained and have begun to roll out their goals from this training.
Business Problem: There are many different departments that all need to work and collaborate together for a common goal. Because this firm is growing so quickly, new employees are constantly being on-boarded, creating a lack of community and communication between teams and departments that used to be smaller and more personable.
Solution: The goal is to create a working environment where colleagues are not only working together, but that all feel like they are making a contribution to the different teams they work with. By implementing relevant training and development initiatives, the marketing firm can create a more inclusive and collaborative work environment where all employees feel valued, connected, and empowered to contribute to the organization's success.
The terminal learning objectives determined are:
Create a Welcoming Environment:
Demonstrate Accepting Behavior:
Examine Contributive Behaviors:
Foster Genuine Connections:
Highlights: Balanced cognitive load, Camtasia video, interactive slides, chunking of learning objectives, reflective time, job aid, users guide, facilitator's guide with production notes, ability to use in one 3hour session or two 1.5 hour sessions.
Process: I used the ADDIE model to:
analyzed the learning targets, audience, and required resources
designed a learning solution that meets the criteria of the needs and aligns the curriculum to meet these goals
developed and revised drafts for validation, seeking input of stakeholders
implemented the learning solutions and track the engagement of the users and their interactions with the resources using Kirkpatrick's Levels 2 and 3:
Kirkpatrick's Level 2 Assessment:
Mentimeter survey
Mentimeter Word Cloud
Reflection sheet in user's guide
Plan of Action in user's guide
Kirkpatrick's Level 3 Assessment:
Apply 2-3 learned belonging activities or tasks and track improvement using Mentimeter survey taken at the beginning of the course
