I built and presented this VILT as a "teach back" presentation for a job interview. The behind-the-scenes process was a massive collaboration with AI.
I used Gemini to help me brainstorm and land on the perfect topic, draft and refine the script, and flesh out a complete facilitator and student guide. When it came to the visuals in Canva, I leveraged premium AI features to customize and alter many of the images so they fit the vibe perfectly.
Along with the core PowerPoint presentation, I also used Canva to design a matching companion job aid, pulling in imagery from the slides to keep everything cohesive.
Interactions with the students at the end helped me to assess the level of engagment and understanding. It was a very upbeat, fun, and short lesson that made a huge impact!
Take a look and see how it all came together!
Audience: the team managers and directors of the marketing firm. These leaders will be able to begin the initiatives among their own teams. A future training will be held for all team members once all of the managers and directors have been trained and have begun to roll out their goals from this training.
Business Problem: There are many different departments that all need to work and collaborate together for a common goal. Because this firm is growing so quickly, new employees are constantly being on-boarded, creating a lack of community and communication between teams and departments that used to be smaller and more personable.
Solution: The goal is to create a working environment where colleagues are not only working together, but that all feel like they are making a contribution to the different teams they work with. By implementing relevant training and development initiatives, the marketing firm can create a more inclusive and collaborative work environment where all employees feel valued, connected, and empowered to contribute to the organization's success.
The terminal learning objectives determined are:
Create a Welcoming Environment:
Demonstrate Accepting Behavior:
Examine Contributive Behaviors:
Foster Genuine Connections:
Highlights: Balanced cognitive load, Camtasia video, interactive slides, chunking of learning objectives, reflective time, job aid, users guide, facilitator's guide with production notes, ability to use in one 3hour session or two 1.5 hour sessions.
Process: I used the ADDIE model to:
analyzed the learning targets, audience, and required resources
designed a learning solution that meets the criteria of the needs and aligns the curriculum to meet these goals
developed and revised drafts for validation, seeking input of stakeholders
implemented the learning solutions and track the engagement of the users and their interactions with the resources using Kirkpatrick's Levels 2 and 3:
Kirkpatrick's Level 2 Assessment:
Mentimeter survey
Mentimeter Word Cloud
Reflection sheet in user's guide
Plan of Action in user's guide
Kirkpatrick's Level 3 Assessment:
Apply 2-3 learned belonging activities or tasks and track improvement using Mentimeter survey taken at the beginning of the course
Review Mentimeter survey in a month to determine if steps taken are working and plan of action if they are not
